Ridley Scott Wants To Make Even More Prometheus Films
And you thought that production getting underway for Prometheus 2 (update: it’s official title is now Alien: Paradise Lost) was major news? Now it looks like Prometheus and original Alien director Ridley Scott wants to make a bunch of sequels to 2012’s Prometheus, which kinda-sorta functioned as a prequel to his 1979 sci-fi/horror masterpiece Alien.
Speaking with German website FilmFutter, Scott says he definitely wants these films to delve deeper into the origin of the Xenomorph and connect the two franchises, but it’ll take about four more sequels to give us the full story and hopefully tie all those Prometheus loose ends that drove so many of us batty. Here’s the quote in full:
“It won’t be in the next one, it will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise… The whole point of it is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself. I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare. I always thought that that original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction.”
If you’d prefer not to sit through another four movies to get back to Ellen Ripley’s storyline, Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 is scheduled to go into production early 2017. Gotta love that bitchin’ concept art:
