Karen Gillan Joins The Circle
One of the coolest companions in the galaxy is set to co-star alongside Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, and John Boyega in the upcoming movie adaptation of Dave Eggers’ novel The Circle. Directed by James Ponsoldt—who recently gave us the exceptional and also literary End of the Tour—according to Deadline, Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy gal Karen Gillan will play Annie, “a warm, cute, goofy, old-money confident and fiercely intelligent member of The Circle.”
And what exactly is The Circle? It’s a powerful internet company run by The Three Wise Men that streamlines users’ email, social media, and banking with their operating system. Sounds efficient and probably hazardous.
The Circle isn’t the only thing Gillan has on her plate. Her IMDb resume also lists Adam McKay’s The Big Shot (about a global economic meltdown—ha!), and Ti West‘s revenge Western In a Valley of Violence. As for her role as Nebula in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, director James Gunn had this to say to MTV during the Avengers: Age of Ultron world premiere last April: “The characters of Gamora and Nebula and Yondu… those are characters we get to know a little bit more.”
And for all you lovely folks heading to Fan Expo this Labour Day weekend, Gillan will totally be there Friday and Saturday.
