Here’s the First Trailer for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
Dystopia is the new suburbia and the teens are dying to escape—only when it comes to the dystopian future that YA novels continue to warn us about, the dying thing is a bit more literal. So it goes in the Maze Runner franchise. The first trailer for its second movie is out today and it’s hot (again, literally).
The two-minute-long clip is set primarily in The Scorch—a crumbling desert landscape formerly known as civilization. Seems all that effort Maze Runner star Dylan O’Brien and his fellow Gladers expended in escaping the frying pan/maze only served to land them in the fire/Scorch. Bummer.
The Scorch is home to phase two of whatever nefarious master plan the mysterious and formidable organization WCKD (subtle, right?) is rolling out. Phase one was the maze trials, phase two will be something even more difficult—with more lots more dying, warns Littlefinger (aka actor Aidan Gillen, who joins his fellow Game of Thrones star Thomas Brodie-Sangster in this sequel).
Here’s the official synopsis: “In this next chapter of the epic Maze Runner saga, Thomas and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.”
